KOBUJUTSU, meaning old martial art or weapons art, refers to the practice of traditional Okinawan and Japanese weapons techniques, often associated with the Pechin & Samurai warrior traditions. The Kobujutsu tradition taught at Seika Martial Arts has it's roots in the Matsumura family of Okinawa. The weapons practiced in this tradition are Bo, Sai, Tonfa, Nunchaku, Tanbo, Gusan and more. Kobujutsu classes are instructed by Sensei Briston Lowry a direct student of Hanshi Gregory Poitras.
HAKUTSURU or White Crane is one of the empty hand traditions of the Matsumura family. The Matsumura Ha Hakutsuru Ken was a closely guarded family secret. This white crane tradition is characterized by devastating open hand strikes as well as up close standing joint locks and throws. Seika Martial Arts is proud to offer Hakutsuru classes instructed by Sensei Gabriel Lowry, a direct student of Hanshi Lawrence Vellucci.
